Beginners

Hello beginners. I am glad that you have taken the step to get into the guitar. The number one goal of our community is to help everyone to gain control of the guitar and the music.

A couple beginner tips:

Ask questions. Most questions are so incredibly common that we have all had practice working with guitarists of all levels to help work through the kinks. If you ever have any questions then please ask.

You number one priority is to have fun. This absolute. Music hits everyone in some way. You have grabbed a guitar not because you wanted to work. You wanted to have fun. Have it.

Never tell yourself that you can't do it. I have a student who has severe tendon problems in his left hand. When we started he would complain that he can't do it because his hand won't allow him. Now he surprises himself weekly when I quiz him on last weeks lesson and he nails it. Sometimes he still brings up the excuse that his hand is messed up but I immediately tell him that every time he says that he eventually gets it and has such fun. We are now at the point that he finishes this sentence every time. If he had ever given into to any discouragement then we would have stopped lessons 8 months ago when he started. He has not missed a single lesson.

Have fun and don't get discouraged.
