Decisions Decisions

Well,

at 33 im wondering what to do next.  ive been a computer technician for years.  but more and more these days it seems less and less people want to pay for someone with my skills.  people are tending to want my sort of service to come bundled with their computer, or directly from microsoft.

So I decided to go back to school and get a degree.  Nothing major just the local community college.

So I was thinking, what should I major in?  Whats going to pay off for me in the long run?  Then I asked myself "what do you love to have in your life?"

then it hit me.  MUSIC.....

So im submitting my application tonight (not like they can say no i dont think lol) and going back to school hopefully this fall if everything works out.

the icing on the cake.  in the amazingly unlikely event that my guitar chops take a gigantic leap over the next 2 years.....  fullerton college, my local community college, has a transfer program to berklee Cool

SAMI Support

Posted by cerebrix in Untagged

So over the last weekend I was having a little bit of trouble resubscribing for another month SAMI.  Well, turns out that there was a little glitch with the billing system and for existing members, there is only 3 month and 6 month options.

well after trying a few things SAMI got me all setup in the meantime while they work on the site.

having said that this is what ive learned about SAMI support thus far.

1) every person i chatted with online was intelligent and really wanted to help me.  everyone made a point to tell me "were going to figure this out for you".  people with a very "can do" attitude.

2) I never felt shuffled around or felt like i was being a hassle.  I got the impression that me being happy was a big deal to them.

I dunno how good the phone support is because i didnt try it.  i like dealing with support online better so i can send people screenshots if need be.  If any of my fellow students here has ever wondered if support here is good, lemme tell you, it is.  we get our money's worth around here.

based on my support experience im gonna buy at least 3 months next time.  you guys rock =).

New Axe

Posted by cerebrix in Untagged

Well after really struggling with my half step drills up and down the neck when trying to reach the upper frets, i sold my Dean Hardtail.  Beautiful guitar but i wanted something more comfortable for me to play.

So I picked this beautiful black beauty up.  A Dean Evo Noir with S3 headstock (most of you will recognize this is the same style headstock dimebag had on his dean ml's)

I really wish I could feel comfortable playing an ml or a razorback.  But i dont.  I had to accept that, this was the neck and body here on the evo that felt best to me.  Heres why.  Look at this contoured neck joint.  so easy to play the upper frets with.  Really super comfortable.

Another Angle......

This body is THICK.  Such meaty tones come out of this thing now....

Well, there she is.  She did have her problems though.  Fret edges were pretty rough, smoothed those out with some .000 steel wool though, still need to buff out the frets and polish them.  gonna pick up some 800 grit sandpaper for that.  Action seems ok, Great guitar, if I had to make any single complaint is id love to get jumbo frets put on.  these feel more like wide low.  Which is very playable, but i dunno, jumbo frets are just easier for me to do bends with.

So there she is.  I'm pretty happy especially considering what I spent to get everything.  I got a lot of special deals putting this together.
